Was<br>h\u00e4tten Sie sonst gemacht?<br>VM Art wurde offiziell 2016 gegr\u00fcndet, aber seine Wurzeln reichen viel weiter zur\u00fcck. Um<br>2002 schuf ich M\u20acURO (ME&amp;EURO), eine autobiografische Figur, die<br>meine \u00dcberlegungen zur heutigen Gesellschaft verk\u00f6rpert \u2013 kulturelle Homogenisierung, Macht der Medien<br>und vor allem, wie unser \u00dcberleben vom Geld abh\u00e4ngt.<br>Der K\u00f6rper von M\u20acURO spiegelt genau das wider: ein Wesen, das nur durch<br>Konsum existieren kann \u2013 eine tragikomische Ikone unserer Zeit.<br>Zun\u00e4chst zeichnete ich Szenen aus meinem Leben, wie sie M\u20acURO sah, auf Fliesen, die ich<br>bei der Renovierung meiner Wohnung wiederverwendet hatte, oder ich verwendete Plastiktr\u00e4ger und Farben.<br>Eines der ersten Kunstwerke handelte von einer Reise nach Rom, als mein Nissan Micra<br>auf der Autobahn eine Panne hatte. Einer meiner Freunde schob ihn kilometerweit \u2013 eine surreale<br>Szene, die ich in einen Mini-Comic im M\u20acURO-Stil verwandelte.<br>Daraus entstanden viele weitere Geschichten \u2013 wie die Liebesaff\u00e4re zwischen M\u20acURO<br>und Miss Dollarina \u2013 und ich tr\u00e4umte sogar von einer animierten Version, einschlie\u00dflich 3D,<br>zeichnete Storyboards und studierte Bewegungen.<br>Nach Jahren in Architektur und Design, mit abstrakter Kunst als Nebent\u00e4tigkeit, zog ich<br>in die Karibik, dann lud mich 2016 ein lieber Freund, Edoardo Hidalgo (derselbe,<br> der den Micra vorangetrieben hat!), nach Shanghai ein, um an einem gro\u00dfen<br>Stadtplanungsprojekt mitzuarbeiten. Er war es, der mich ermutigte, meine<br>Zeichnungen wieder aufzunehmen \u2013 er hatte gesehen, wie sie entstanden waren.<br>Da beschloss ich, M\u20acURO in die Welt hinauszutragen und es auf T-Shirts zu drucken. Das<br>war der erste Schritt in Richtung VM-SHIRT.<br>H\u00e4tte ich das nicht getan? Dann w\u00fcrde ich wahrscheinlich immer noch nach Wegen suchen, Kunst, Aktivismus und<br>Satire zu verbinden \u2013 Werkzeuge, die f\u00fcr mich schon immer untrennbar mit dem Leben verbunden waren.<br>Denn frei zu sein &#8230; ist ein Akt der Rebellion! <\/strong><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><strong>2 \u2013 Heutzutage gibt es \u00fcberall bunte T-Shirts mit Grafiken. Was macht<br>deine anders? Was inspiriert dich?<br>Meine T-Shirts sind pers\u00f6nliche Erz\u00e4hlungen. Jedes Motiv ist eine Botschaft \u2013 oft<br>provokativ oder surreal \u2013, die aus meinen Erfahrungen, meinen radikalsten Gedanken und<br>einem einzigen Wunsch entstanden ist: den Alltag in lebendige Kunst zu verwandeln.<br>W\u00e4hrend viele davon tr\u00e4umen, die Welt zu ver\u00e4ndern, ist es mein Traum, durch ein<br>Gesamtwerk Spuren zu hinterlassen \u2013 ein konzeptionelles Denkmal, das sowohl Erinnerung als auch Warnung ist.<br>Ich stelle mir eine performative Installation vor: eine schwebende Metallstruktur \u2013 ein fragiles<br>Symbol der Demokratie \u2013, bedeckt mit brennenden Banknoten, mitten im Herzen des<br>Times Square. Wenn das Feuer erlischt, bleibt die nackte Struktur in der Luft zur\u00fcck, ein<br>stiller Zeuge einer notwendigen Flamme.<br>Meine Grafiken sind nicht dazu da, um zu \u201egefallen\u201d, sondern um zu kommunizieren, zu provozieren, zum Nachdenken anzuregen<br>\u2013 manchmal mit Ironie. \u201eGeteiltes Leid ist halbes Leid\u201d, sagt man \u2013 aber ich m\u00f6chte, dass<br>dieses \u201eGeteilte\u201d auch Bewusstsein ist. Dann gibt es noch M\u20acURO, mein k\u00fcnstlerisches Alter Ego: ein kritischer Beobachter, Opfer und<br>Erz\u00e4hler unserer Zeit. Durch ihn erz\u00e4hle ich Geschichten \u2013 es ist, als w\u00fcrde ich schreiben und Keith<br>Haring zeichnen.<br>Haring ist meine visuelle Kurzschrift: Seine direkte, universelle Sprache dr\u00fcckt meine Ideen perfekt<br>aus.<br>\u00c4sthetisch verwende ich kr\u00e4ftige Farben, scharfe Kontraste und eine Mischung aus Pop-Art, Comics<br>und Underground-Grafiken mit digitalen Einfl\u00fcssen. Aber was meine Shirts wirklich<br>auszeichnet, ist der Ansatz: Sie sind keine Mode \u2013 sie sind tragbare Botschaften.<\/strong><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>3 \u2013 N\u00e4chstes Jahr wird Ihre Marke 10 Jahre alt. Was waren die wichtigsten Meilensteine<br>und wie geht es weiter? Wer ist Ihr typischer Kunde?<br>Ja! VM-SHIRT ist noch ein 10-j\u00e4hriges Kind \u2013 aber 2026 ist der Geburtstag einer Idee,<br>die sich st\u00e4ndig weiterentwickelt hat, ohne jemals ihre Seele zu verlieren.<br>Meilensteine sind immer mit Begegnungen, Reisen und spontanen<br>Erkenntnissen verbunden: von den ersten bedruckten Shirts in Shanghai \u00fcber Street Art in Belgien bis hin zu<br>Kooperationen mit K\u00fcnstlern und Performern. Jede Phase war eine Reise des<br>kontinuierlichen Experimentierens und der kreativen Erweiterung.<br>Ein Wendepunkt? Als ich sah, dass Menschen meine Shirts nicht wegen der \u00c4sthetik trugen, sondern<br>wegen der Botschaft.<br>VM wuchs durch echte Mundpropaganda, dank Menschen, die sich mit einer<br>umfassenderen Erz\u00e4hlung verbunden f\u00fchlten \u2013 reich an Inhalt und Vision.<br>Mein typischer Kunde? Ein neugieriger, jugendlicher Geist mit zukunftsorientiertem Denken. Ein<br>sanfter Rebell. Jemand, der keine Angst hat, er selbst zu sein. Ich richte mich nicht an den<br>Mainstream, sondern an diejenigen, die eine alternative Sprache suchen, die Kunst und<br>Gesellschaftskritik lieben und die passive Masse ablehnen.<br>Derzeit entwickle ich neue Kollektionen, die experimentelle<br>Techniken, digitale Formate und innovative Materialien integrieren. Es ist ein langer, langsamer Prozess,<br>aber notwendig.<br>Gleichzeitig arbeite ich an \u00f6ffentlicher Kunst, Installationen und Performances. Mein<br>Traum? Kunst und Mode zu einem einzigen urbanen und kollektiven Akt zu verschmelzen.<br>Etwas, das auf der Stra\u00dfe passiert, vor allen Augen, und Spuren hinterl\u00e4sst. <\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>4 \u2013 K\u00f6nnen Sie uns mehr \u00fcber Ihr Unternehmen erz\u00e4hlen? Wie viele Mitarbeiter haben Sie,<br>wer sind die wichtigsten Personen (au\u00dfer Ihnen selbst), wo befindet sich Ihr Firmensitz und wo<br>werden die T-Shirts hergestellt?<br>VM-SHIRT ist klein, aber sehr dynamisch. Ich habe immer alles selbst in die Hand genommen:<br>Design, Grafik, Lieferanten, Produktion, Marketing, Webdesign, Vertrieb,<br>Influencer-Kampagnen &#8230; und vieles mehr.<br>Als Gr\u00fcnder, Kreativdirektor und Illustrator leite ich die Marke seit dem ersten Tag,<br>aber die St\u00e4rke von VM liegt auch in der gemeinsamen Arbeit und einer gemeinsamen k\u00fcnstlerischen Vision.<br>In letzter Zeit habe ich ein strukturierteres Netzwerk aufgebaut: Partnerschaften mit<br>Agenturen in Portugal, den Niederlanden und Italien; ein Team f\u00fcr Web, Logistik und<br>Lieferantenbeziehungen. Gemeinsam sorgen wir f\u00fcr Qualit\u00e4t und Konsistenz.<br>Ich bin st\u00e4ndig auf der Suche nach zuverl\u00e4ssigen Lieferanten, die ein qualitativ hochwertiges Produkt<br>mit einem guten Preis-Leistungs-Verh\u00e4ltnis liefern. Das ist ein langer und manchmal<br>anstrengender Prozess. Der T-Shirt-Markt ist ges\u00e4ttigt \u2013 deshalb sind Inhalte und Visionen wichtiger<br>als nur \u201eWaren\u201c.<br>Ich arbeite mit einem flexiblen Netzwerk von Mitarbeitern zusammen \u2013 unabh\u00e4ngigen Handwerkern, die<br>bei Bedarf in Projekte einsteigen. Wir sind kein B\u00fcro \u2013 wir sind eher ein kreatives Labor.<br>VM ist mein Leben. Jedes Projekt entsteht aus k\u00fcnstlerischer Dringlichkeit und wird mit<br>Sorgfalt entwickelt.<br>Wir haben unseren Sitz in Br\u00fcssel, aber eine globale Ausrichtung. Der Gro\u00dfteil der Produktion findet<br>in Deutschland statt, in limitierten Auflagen, mit akribischer Aufmerksamkeit f\u00fcr Materialien und Details.<br>Wir arbeiten mit zertifizierter Baumwolle und Lieferanten, die sich f\u00fcr Nachhaltigkeit und<br>Transparenz engagieren.<br>Jede Kollektion wird wie eine Ausstellung kuratiert: Konzept, Storytelling, Farbpalette \u2013<br>alles folgt einer k\u00fcnstlerischen Vision bis hin zum fertigen Produkt.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>5 \u2013 Wie ist Ihr Vertrieb organisiert? Ich nehme an, E-Commerce und Social<br>Commerce spielen eine gro\u00dfe Rolle?<br>Nach den ersten Drucken in Shanghai und der Begeisterung von Freunden, Familie und<br>einem wachsenden Publikum begann ich, mit Online-Plattformen wie Shopify,<br>Printful und insbesondere Teespring (jetzt Spring) zu experimentieren, das ein wichtiger Teil meiner E-<br>Commerce-Reise war.<br>Jahrelang war es mein Testfeld f\u00fcr Prototypen, die jetzt im Umlauf sind.<br>Letztes Jahr habe ich endlich meinen eigenen Webshop gestartet \u2013 jetzt mein Hauptvertriebskanal. Ich betreibe ihn<br>selbst mit obsessiver Sorgfalt f\u00fcr die Benutzererfahrung und die Konsistenz der Botschaft.<br>Jeder Kauf ist ein Akt des Vertrauens. Ich betrachte K\u00e4ufer nicht als blo\u00dfe Kunden \u2013 ich<br>sende oft individuelle Zeichnungen an Menschen, die sich mit dem Projekt identifizieren. Das ist meine<br>Art, die menschliche Seite des Handels wiederzubeleben, die in der Welt nach der<br>Pandemie verblasst ist.<br>Ich baue auch meinen Social Commerce mit gezielten Kampagnen, redaktionellen<br>Inhalten und Kooperationen mit Kreativen aus.<br>Aber der Verkauf ist nicht mein Hauptziel: Es geht darum, eine Gemeinschaft aufzubauen,<br>Gespr\u00e4che anzuregen und zum Nachdenken anzuregen.<br>Trotz des digitalen Fokus m\u00f6chte ich den physischen Vertrieb durch<br>Concept Stores, Galerien und tempor\u00e4re R\u00e4ume, die meine Vision teilen, ausbauen.<br>Im Juni dieses Jahres werde ich beispielsweise dank einer wichtigen Mitarbeiterin, Cindy Koopmans, an Musikveranstaltungen in Portugal und urbanen<br>Interviews in Amsterdam teilnehmen.<br>In der Vergangenheit habe ich \u00fcber ausgew\u00e4hlte Boutiquen verkauft, aber ich habe strenge Kriterien: Der<br>Raum muss eine Erweiterung des Projekts sein, nicht nur eine Verkaufsstelle.<br>Das erfordert Zeit, Auswahl und Budgetkontrolle.<br>Ich glaube an einen hybriden, menschlichen und digitalen Vertrieb \u2013 immer konsistent.<br>VM ist keine Fast Fashion und wird es auch nie sein: Jedes St\u00fcck hat eine Bedeutung und ist Teil einer<br>gr\u00f6\u00dferen Geschichte. Diejenigen, die es tragen, werden Teil dieser Geschichte.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em><br>6 \u2013 Wo sehen Sie VM in f\u00fcnf Jahren?<br>Meine Zukunftspl\u00e4ne? Was steht bei VM auf dem Programm?<br>Ich habe unz\u00e4hlige Ideen \u2013 einige davon sind bereits in der Umsetzung, andere noch in den Kinderschuhen<br>\u2013, die alle von einer Vision getragen werden: VM-SHIRT zu einem Gesamterlebnis zu machen, das \u00fcber<br>Mode hinausgeht.<br>Ich arbeite an neuen Kollektionen, die Illustration, Storytelling und Technologie kombinieren, obwohl meine t\u00e4glichen Aufgaben derzeit meine k\u00fcnstlerische Zeit einschr\u00e4nken. Eine solide Struktur ist<br>f\u00fcr ein vollst\u00e4ndiges Wachstum erforderlich.<br>Innerhalb von zwei Jahren sehe ich eine rasche Expansion der Marke voraus und hoffe, starke<br>Partner zu finden \u2013 vielleicht ein gro\u00dfes Label, das bereit ist, VM als Schwesterunternehmen aufzubauen.<br>Wenn alles gut l\u00e4uft \u2013 in einem Meer von Haien und kurzlebigen Start-ups \u2013 sehe ich<br>VM-SHIRT als erweiterte Community mit unabh\u00e4ngigen internationalen Niederlassungen<br>in den USA und Asien.<br>Meine Rolle? Ein riesiges Bildarchiv zu erstellen \u2013 viel gr\u00f6\u00dfer als das derzeitige<br>\u2013, w\u00e4hrend die Modelinie jede Saison neue Themen lanciert.<br>In der Zwischenzeit sehe ich mich weltweit an M\u20acUROLAND arbeiten: einem gro\u00df angelegten<br>urbanen Kunstprojekt, inspiriert von historischen Wandmalern, neu interpretiert durch eine<br>konzeptionelle, moderne Linse.<br>Jedes Werk \u2013 verteilt \u00fcber Geb\u00e4ude, Mauern, D\u00e4cher \u2013 bildet ein fragmentiertes<br>Mosaik, das nur aus der Ferne sichtbar ist: vielleicht von einem H\u00fcgel, einem Aussichtspunkt oder einer Drohnenaufnahme aus.<br> Aus der Ferne wirkt M\u20acURO wie ein Buddha \u2013 eine gemeinsame Botschaft in der ganzen<br>Stadt, die den urbanen Raum in eine visuelle Stimme des Friedens, der Liebe und des Verst\u00e4ndnisses verwandelt.<br>Das Ziel ist es, M\u20acURO \u00fcber den kommerziellen Bereich hinaus in symbolische R\u00e4ume wie<br>St\u00e4dte, Pl\u00e4tze und \u00f6ffentliche Anlagen zu bringen, um auch diejenigen zu erreichen, die niemals ein<br>Shirt kaufen w\u00fcrden.<br>F\u00fcr mich liegt die Kraft in der Geste, nicht im Produkt.<br>Ich m\u00f6chte nicht, dass VM nur eine Marke wird. Ich m\u00f6chte, dass es eine Stimme, eine Geste, eine<br>Provokation bleibt.<br>Jedes T-Shirt ist ein Medium \u2013 ein Tor zu etwas Gr\u00f6\u00dferem. Ein tragbares, lebendiges<br>Kunstwerk, das auch nach dem Kauf weiter spricht.<br>VM wird weiter sprechen, herausfordern und \u2013 hoffentlich \u2013 Menschen zum L\u00e4cheln bringen.<br>M\u20acUROLAND \u2013 Inspirationen hinter meinem urbanen Konzept<br>eL Seed \u2013 Perception (Kairo, \u00c4gypten)<br>Der franz\u00f6sisch-tunesische K\u00fcnstler schuf ein Wandbild, das sich \u00fcber mehr als 50 Geb\u00e4ude in der<br>\u201eM\u00fcllstadt\u201d erstreckt. Es ist nur vom Berg Muqattam aus zu sehen und bildet einen Satz<br>in arabischer Kalligraphie: \u201eWer das Sonnenlicht klar sehen will, muss<br>zuerst seine Augen abwischen.\u201d<br>2. Felice Varini \u2013 Trois Ellipses Ouvertes en D\u00e9sordre (Hasselt,<br>Belgien)<br>Der Schweizer K\u00fcnstler schuf ein anamorphotisches Werk \u00fcber 99 Geb\u00e4ude in der<br>Altstadt. Die Formen passen nur von einem bestimmten Blickwinkel aus perfekt zusammen und<br>verwandeln die Stadt in eine optische T\u00e4uschung.<br>3. JR \u2013 The Chronicles of San Francisco (USA)<br>Der franz\u00f6sische K\u00fcnstler JR schuf ein digitales animiertes Wandbild mit \u00fcber 1.200<br>Einwohnern der Stadt, die fotografiert und interviewt wurden, um die Geschichte der Stadt<br>durch ihre Menschen zu erz\u00e4hlen.<br>4. Schwester Corita Kent \u2013 Gas Tank Mural (Boston, USA)<br>Die Aktivistin und K\u00fcnstlerin malte ein riesiges Wandbild auf einen Gastank in Dorchester.<br>Selbst aus Flugzeugen sichtbar, verwandelten seine leuchtenden Farben und aufmunternden Botschaften<br>verwandelten ein Symbol der Industrie in ein Symbol der Hoffnung.<br>5. Pueblo Levee Mural Project (Colorado, USA)5.<br>Das l\u00e4ngste Wandbild der Welt (\u00fcber 3 Meilen) auf dem Arkansas River Deich,<br>das in den 1970er Jahren von Studenten und K\u00fcnstlern begonnen wurde \u2013 ein monumentales Beispiel<br>f\u00fcr partizipative Stadterneuerung.<br>Die Stadt soll zur Leinwand werden! Das war mein Ziel, als ich zum ersten Mal nach Br\u00fcssel kam.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>7 \u2013 K\u00f6nnen Sie uns einen Einblick in Ihre Verkaufspreise geben?<br>Die Preise variieren je nach Vertriebskanal, Kooperation und Bestellmenge. Ich m\u00f6chte nie \u00fcber den Preis konkurrieren, sondern \u00fcber den wahrgenommenen Wert.<br>VM-SHIRT positioniert sich im mittleren bis gehobenen Preissegment mit flexiblen und unabh\u00e4ngigen Margen.<br>F\u00fcr Concept Stores oder Galerien besprechen wir die Preisgestaltung kontext- und zielgruppenspezifisch.<br>Ich bin stets offen f\u00fcr Kooperationen mit Distributoren, um L\u00f6sungen zu finden, die die Identit\u00e4t und die Werte von VM-SHIRT widerspiegeln \u2013 ohne Kompromisse bei Qualit\u00e4t oder Erlebnis einzugehen.<br>Ich m\u00f6chte au\u00dferdem eine \u201eLimited Edition\u201c-Linie oder Premium-Kooperationen entwickeln und gleichzeitig ein erschwingliches Basissortiment beibehalten. He was the one who encouraged me to take up my <\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>drawings again \u2014 he&#8217;d seen them being born.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>That\u2019s when I decided to bring M\u20acURO to the world, printing it on T-shirts. I\u2019d probably still be seeking ways to blend art, activism, <\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>and satire \u2014 tools that have always been inseparable from life for me.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>Because being free&#8230; is an act of rebellion!<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><strong>2 \u2013 Nowadays colorful T-shirts with graphics are everywhere. What makes <\/strong><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><strong>yours different? What inspires you? <\/strong><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>My T-shirts are personal narratives. Each graphic is a message \u2014 often <\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>provocative or surreal \u2014 born from my experiences, my most radical thoughts,<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>and a single desire: to transform the everyday into living art.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>While many dream of changing the world, mine is to leave a mark through a<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>total work \u2014 a conceptual monument that is both a memento and a warning.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>I imagine a performative installation: a suspended metal structure \u2014 a fragile<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>symbol of democracy \u2014 covered in burning banknotes, right in the heart of<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>Times Square. When the fire dies out, the bare structure remains in the air, a <\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>silent witness of a necessary flame.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>My graphics aren\u2019t made \u201cto please\u201d but to communicate, provoke, stimulate<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>thought \u2014 sometimes with irony. \u201cMisery loves company,\u201d they say \u2014 but I want <\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>that \u201ccompany\u201d to also be awareness.Then there\u2019s M\u20acURO, my artistic alter ego: a critical observer, victim, and<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>narrator of our times. What have been the major milestones <\/strong><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><strong>and what&#8217;s next? I don\u2019t target the  <\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>mainstream, but those who seek an alternative language, who love art and<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>social critique, and reject the passive crowd.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>Right now, I\u2019m developing new collections that integrate experimental<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>techniques, digital formats, and innovative materials. It\u2019s a long, slow process, <\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>but necessary.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>At the same time, I\u2019m working on public art, installations, and performance. My <\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>dream? To fuse art and fashion into a single urban and collective act. <\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>Something that happens on the street, in front of everyone, and leaves a mark.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><strong>4 \u2013 Can you tell us more about your company? How many of you are there, <\/strong><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><strong>who are the key figures (besides yourself), where are you based and where<\/strong><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><strong>are the T-shirts produced?<\/strong><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>VM-SHIRT is small but very dynamic. I&#8217;ve always handled everything directly: <\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>design, graphics, suppliers, production, marketing, web design, sales,<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>influencer campaigns&#8230; and more.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>As founder, creative director, and illustrator, I\u2019ve led the brand since day one,<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>but VM\u2019s strength also lies in collective work and a shared artistic vision.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>Recently, I\u2019ve been building a more structured network: partnerships with<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>agencies in Portugal, the Netherlands, and Italy; a team for web, logistics, and<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>supplier relations. Together we ensure quality and consistency. <\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>I\u2019m constantly looking for reliable suppliers to deliver a high-quality product<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>with a good balance between price and service. It\u2019s a long and sometimes <\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>exhausting process.The T-shirt market is saturated \u2014 that\u2019s why content and vision matter more<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>than just \u201cmerchandise.\u201d<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>I work with a fluid network of collaborators \u2014 independent artisans who jump<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>into projects as needed. We\u2019re not an office \u2014 we\u2019re more of a creative lab. <\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>VM is my life. Every project is born from artistic urgency and developed with <\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>care.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>We\u2019re based in Brussels, but with a global outlook. Major production has been <\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>in Germany, in limited runs, with meticulous attention to materials and detail.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>We work with certified cotton and suppliers committed to sustainability and<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>transparency.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>Each collection is curated like an exhibit: concept, storytelling, palette \u2014<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>everything follows an artistic vision through to the finished product.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><strong>5 \u2013 How is your distribution organized? I imagine e-commerce and social <\/strong><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><strong>commerce play a big role?<\/strong><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>After the early prints in Shanghai and the excitement from friends, family, and<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>an expanding public, I began experimenting with online platforms like Shopify,<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>Printful, and especially Teespring (now Spring), which was a key part of my e-<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>commerce journey.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>For years, it was my testing ground for prototypes now in circulation.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>Last year, I finally launched my own webshop \u2014 now my main channel. I run it <\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>myself with obsessive care for user experience and message consistency.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>Every purchase is an act of trust. I don\u2019t see buyers as mere customers \u2014 I <\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>often send custom drawings to people who connect with the project. It\u2019s my <\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>way of reviving the human side of commerce, which has faded in the post-<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>pandemic world.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>I\u2019m also growing my social commerce with targeted campaigns, editorial<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>content, and creator collaborations.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>But selling is not my main goal: it\u2019s about building community, sparking<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>conversation, igniting thought.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>Despite the digital focus, I want to expand physical distribution through<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>concept stores, galleries, and temporary spaces that share my vision.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>This June, for example, I\u2019ll be part of musical events in Portugal and urban<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>interviews in Amsterdam, thanks to a key collaborator, Cindy Koopmans.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>In the past, I\u2019ve sold through select boutiques, but I have strict criteria: the<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>space must be an extension of the project, not just a sales point.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>It takes time, selection, and budget control.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>I believe in hybrid, human and digital distribution \u2014 always consistent.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>VM is not fast fashion and never will be: every piece has meaning and is part of<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>a larger story. Those who wear it become part of that story. <\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><strong>6 \u2013 Where do you see VM in five years?<\/strong><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><strong>My future plans? What\u2019s cooking on VM\u2019s table? <\/strong><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>I have countless ideas \u2014 some already underway, others still in their early<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>stages \u2014 all driven by one vision: making VM-SHIRT a total experience, beyond<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>fashion.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>I\u2019m working on new collections combining illustration, storytelling, and tech,though daily responsibilities currently limit my artistic time. A solid structure is <\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>needed for full growth.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>Within two years, I foresee rapid brand expansion, and hope to find strong<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>partners \u2014 perhaps a major label ready to grow VM as a sister company.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>If all goes well \u2014 in a sea of sharks and short-lived startups \u2014 in five years I see<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>VM-SHIRT as an extended community, with independent international branches<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>in the US and Asia.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>My role? To create a vast archive of images \u2014 much larger than the current one <\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>\u2014 while the fashion line launches new themes each season.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>Meanwhile, I see myself around the world working on M\u20acUROLAND: a large-<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>scale urban art project inspired by historical muralists, reinterpreted through a<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>conceptual, modern lens.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>Each piece \u2014 spread over buildings, walls, rooftops \u2014 forms a fragmented<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>mosaic, visible only from a distance: maybe a hilltop, panoramic view, or drone<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>shot. From afar, M\u20acURO appears like a Buddha \u2014 a shared message across the <\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>city, turning urban space into a visual voice of peace, love, and understanding.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>The goal is to take M\u20acURO beyond commerce \u2014 into symbolic spaces like<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>cities, squares, and public grounds \u2014 to reach even those who\u2019d never buy a<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>shirt.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>For me, the power lies in the gesture, not the product.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>I never want VM to become just a brand. I want it to remain a voice, a gesture, a <\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>provocation.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>Each T-shirt is a medium \u2014 a gateway to something bigger. A portable, living <\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>artwork that continues to speak after the purchase.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>VM will keep speaking, challenging, and \u2014 hopefully \u2014 making people smile.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\">M\u20acUROLAND \u2013 Inspirations Behind My Urban Concept<\/p><ol><li class=\"p2\">eL Seed \u2013 Perception (Cairo, Egypt)<\/li><\/ol><p class=\"p2\">The French-Tunisian artist created a mural spanning 50+ buildings in<\/p><p class=\"p2\">\u201cGarbage City.\u201d Viewable only from Mount Muqattam, it forms a phrase <\/p><p class=\"p2\">in Arabic calligraphy: \u201cHe who wants to see the sunlight clearly must<\/p><p class=\"p2\">first wipe his eyes.\u201d<\/p><p class=\"p2\">2. Felice Varini \u2013 Trois Ellipses Ouvertes en D\u00e9sordre (Hasselt,<\/p><p class=\"p2\">Belgium)<\/p><p class=\"p2\">The Swiss artist made an anamorphic piece across 99 buildings in the<\/p><p class=\"p2\">old town. The forms align perfectly only from one precise viewpoint, <\/p><p class=\"p2\">turning the city into an optical illusion.<\/p><p class=\"p2\">3. JR \u2013 The Chronicles of San Francisco (USA)<\/p><p class=\"p2\">French artist JR created a digital animated mural featuring over 1,200<\/p><p class=\"p2\">city residents \u2014 photographed and interviewed \u2014 telling the city\u2019s<\/p><p class=\"p2\">story through its people.<\/p><p class=\"p2\">4. Sister Corita Kent \u2013 Gas Tank Mural (Boston, USA)<\/p><p class=\"p2\">The activist-artist painted a giant mural on a gas tank in Dorchester.<\/p><p class=\"p2\">Viewable even from airplanes, its vivid colors and uplifting messages<\/p><p class=\"p2\">transformed an industrial symbol into one of hope.<\/p><p class=\"p2\">5. Pueblo Levee Mural Project (Colorado, USA)5.<\/p><p class=\"p2\">The world\u2019s longest mural (over 3 miles) on the Arkansas River levee,<\/p><p class=\"p2\">started in the 1970s by students and artists \u2014 a monumental example<\/p><p class=\"p2\">of participatory urban regeneration.<\/p><p class=\"p1\">Let the city become a canvas! That was my goal when I first arrived in Brussels. <\/p><p class=\"p1\"><strong>7 \u2013 Can you share an idea of your sell-in prices?<\/strong><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>Prices vary depending on channel, collaboration, and volume. I never aim to <\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>compete on price, but on perceived value.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>VM-SHIRT has a mid-to-high positioning, with flexible, independent margins.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>For concept stores or galleries, we discuss pricing based on context and<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>audience.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>I\u2019m always open to working with distributors on solutions that reflect VM-<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>SHIRT\u2019s identity and values \u2014 never compromising on quality or experience.<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>I\u2019d also like to develop a \u201climited edition\u201d line or premium collaborations, while<\/em><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><em>keeping an accessible base range.
